I lost my father at age 16. Actually, my father had been ill for many years, so I lost him even before he died. But death was final. I didn’t realize, then, the depth of that loss. As the seasons have turned, and my own children have crossed the threshold into adulthood, I more fully realize the devastating impact of losing a father.
Today, on their first Father’s Day without their daddy, my heart grieves for Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson. They lost a particularly devoted, nurturing and loving daddy. They lost a rare and invaluable commodity in the world of today. We can only imagine the grief they feel.
Michael Jackson’s dear children have much to be thankful for in remembering the precious years they shared with the best daddy we could ever imagine.
